Need help keeping a 2 year old busy

Re: Need help keeping a 2 year old busy

Just my personal opinion, if your son has never been to a daycare preschool before, I dont think its a good idea to start now.
Having a new baby in the house is a big change for a toddler (atleast it was for mine) and putting him in a pre-school at the sametime will be another big change for him. My son has always been going to a daycare and now pre-school but since we changed states a couple of time, we changed his school and everytime starting a new school he was sad in the beginning.
But if you think your son will love it, do try it.

You can print out tracings and give it to him. He may or may not be able to write but he will difinitely enjoy tracing or just scribbling on the paper.
As queer suggested, kids this age are very curious and love imitating adults or watching things. He can help naani in the kitchen when she is preparing food. Just give him plastic bowls and spoons and ask him to pretend to make something.

I fill up the bath tub and my son can play in the bath tub for hours if I let him. Your mom can be closeby to keep an eye and he can play in the water.

Paper books with pictures are the best things. My son cannot read but he makes up a story looking at the pictures and reads books to me. Ask your son to read a book to you. Tell him to think of a story by looking at the pictures and read it to you.
I like legos and blocks. He makes nonsense things out of these and loves destroying whatever he has made.

Dont worry about toys scattered about, it doesnt matter. If he knows about cleaning up, he can. You can ask him to limit the toys to one room only.

Lovely lovely ideas everyone. Thank you so much
