Re: Neda Weds Sati ~ Event that made it onto the front page of the San Diego Tribune!
Quite overly done I think....things look good when they are done in the right manner - when done in excess it looks strange...think about those that were stuck in traffic because of the elephant. You can't shut of entire streets just because of some ordinary millionaire's wedding - he's not a president/king etc. I can't see other reasons than plain and simple show-off on the wealth and nothing else -
Anyways, not my money were spent on this wedding so why should I complain :-)
Re: Neda Weds Sati ~ Event that made it onto the front page of the San Diego Tribune!
Why does everyone keep saying its a waste of money?? It just sounds like sour grapes, ladies.
Jeez. They obviously have a lot of it and they can afford to get married this way!
I think the wedding looks like a hell of a lot of fun and the decor is gorgeous! And frankly, if I had that kind of money, I don’t see ANY reason to not spend it this way! We don’t know anything about their personal lives- would this be more acceptable if they were philanthropists? If you were marrying a multimillionaire, are you telling me you’d be content with a dress from just any shop and a reception at a banquet hall? I think not.
As for shutting down streets? I can bet you not many people were pissed about off about it! Its not a daily occurence and I’m sure he didn’t ride Tai in over 28 blocks either. Plus, I know in Toronto, I’ve seen people honk and cheer anyway if they see a bride and groom riding past in their vintage limo or walking down the street for their shoot. If I saw an elephant, I’d be totally excited and happy for the couple getting married int his manner instead of thinking, oh God, you guys are such losers, you have an elephant.

I agree w/ SGC totally. And my cousin in Lahore had an elephant for his baraat entrance and people went crazy when they saw it. I'm gonna get some pictures and add it on here. I so always wanted one for my future-hubby. It really seems so magical, I find.
Re: Neda Weds Sati ~ Event that made it onto the front page of the San Diego Tribune!
I just finished watching the video and I don't think I remember which flowers they had or what the venue was like...I just remember the emotions expressed by each person and OMG...that was very heartfelt video. They expressed themselves so deeply and ha to be completely and truly involved in a way that most people are not these days. At most weddings the guests worry about what time the food was served or in what order they were 'invited' to take pictures with the couple! It's so refreshing to see a wedding that is all about the couple and their relationship and how much they value each other's love! Very inspirational.
Oh my god....this wedding really made me cringe. I watched the whole shabang online and literally felt like barfing every time they talked about how they met, how much they love each other blah dee blah. It seems so crass to tell the whole friggin world about the intricacies of their romance :/

**The Story:
Hillyer, who helps develop strategy for a software company in San Francisco, began wooing his bride when they were students at Santa Clara University. he was a resident assistant in her dorm building, and although she had a boyfriend at the time, Hillyer was patient and persistent.
His bride, 27-year-old Neda Rahimian, spent the past year planning the Persian wedding. She quit her job at a Bay Area advertising firm to focus on the details.**
Re: Neda Weds Sati ~ Event that made it onto the front page of the San Diego Tribune!
I think the couple is cute, videos and sentiments were very nice.
I do think having all those rasms is a bit of a drag though. Not from a financial standpoint but more practical one. I guess two Hennas and the countless other things they did...if I attended this wedding...I would have to have at least 7 or 8 outfits for the rasms - not to mention the other things like going out somewhere else later on.
Re: Neda Weds Sati ~ Event that made it onto the front page of the San Diego Tribune!
Afterward, as Hillyer waited to be presented with his bride, he described a flood of emotions.
I feel so very fully, said Hillyer, 29. So much excitement. So much anticipation. So much joy. As for riding the elephant, he said, it felt like being on a water bed on wheels. Id highly recommend it. :D
