Naya KPK | Initiatives & Progress

Re: Naya KPK | Initiatives & Progress

**Depoliticising Education Recruitment and eliminating nepotism!
**

In KPK, the school teachers are now appointed through National Testing Service (NTS) which tests their knowledge on Mathematics, Science, English and Current Affairs, and so far, 5,115 teachers have been appointed through such system. No more political interference in the process, bribe is not a requirement to secure a job nor there is any danger of losing your permanent job if you are hired on merit. Raising the standards of teachers’ recruitment, making the system fair and professional by attracting the deserving candidates and increasing teacher’s pay is one of the main ways of improving education system. A lot of young graduates will benefit from this scheme, and it will make teaching a desirable profession which will reduce the gap in teacher shortages.

Pakistan has been victim of hundreds of deadly bomb attacks for last 10 years, but it is only under PTI government that KPK is first ever modern explosive handling school. A perfect way to start producing efficient and professional bomb disposal squad to fight terrorism. The first of its kind school in Pakistan aims to produce 500 member of BDS unit.

Unique Housing Schemes in KPK which aren’t advertised enough in the media. KPK needs more and more such schemes to address the housing issue of the province and improve standards of life across the province, and provide opportunities of home ownership to first time buyers.

Re: Naya KPK | Initiatives & Progress

I don’t think so. They probably do end taking up jobs, but it is not their responsibility, just like rescue services isn’t their domain, but they end up resucing the flood victims because no other facilities are available.

Anyway. KPK BDS soon after it’s creation disposed 20kg bomb in Bannu, and there are plenty more examples to highlight their efficiency. Their performance is one of the many side reason by bomb attacks have significantly reduced in KPK. Unfortunately, a diffused bomb just doesn’t get enough attention in the media nor people appreciate the efforts.

Re: Naya KPK | Initiatives & Progress

@**Captain**1, I am genuinely trying to highlight real news and offering my own opinions. Could you please take care of the usual trolls and spammers. I welcome discussing but not one line trolling.

We can make a really good use of this thread to evaluate performances and track promises if you take the usual trolls in check.

Thanks.

Re: Naya KPK | Initiatives & Progress

Thanks for clearing this up. This and the NTS is genuinely one of the things I’m liking from KPK
and I wasn’t trying to troll or derail the thread.

Re: Naya KPK | Initiatives & Progress

I know you weren’t trolling. I’ve added more information in my last reply in case you are interested. The NTS is an amazing scheme, and it’s a very good way of tackling youth employment as young graduates would be the biggest beneficiaries of such impartial and unformed merit based system. It’s a very new scheme still so I’m interested in seeing the data we get after couple of years.

There are awful lot of things that are happening right in KPK and it’s a huge shame that media can’t look beyond PTI party politics and Imran’s popularity to give credit to KPK government.

Re: Naya KPK | Initiatives & Progress

Agreed, education + health should honestly be given the up most priority and programs like these do need more exposure, doesn’t matter from which party/gov.

Re: Naya KPK | Initiatives & Progress

The Alif Laam is an independent organization which monitors education progress across all the provinces, and since PTI has come to power. KPK has quickly caught with Punjab in numbers, and is a consistent performer. Record number of budget was allocated to Education in KPK, and provisional government is investing in improving education in all sorts of ways, investing money to advertise enrollment drive, setting up internal enrollment targets, improving teachers’ recruitment or refurbishing schools, allocating funds to provide free education to children of widows and labourers. Of course, things are far from perfect and there is just way too much damage to undo and achieve new success. But there is a sense of commitment and direction in KPK in regards to education.

It is not easy to transform a war torn province with such complex socio-economic situation, but things needs to happen somewhere. Promoting education is not an easy topic in KPK given it’s tribal nature where there is general apathy towards the importance of formal school and college education.

But it is only to due to PTI and PTI alone that a war torn province and generally described as backward and under governed province is competing with country’s historically prosperous and developed province - Punjab. In every field, KPK is competing with Punjab, and no one would’ve thought that KPK would make such comeback and be on a staggering road to recovery and progress 8 years ago.
