It took them quite a while to bring up the housing allowance for MPAs to the national level, dont you think? Back in 2008, the Sindh MPA housing allowance was more than 30,000 per month…which was increased to 55,000 a couple of years later…As for Punjab, it was recently reported that Punjab assembly MPAs have the highest salaries and perks in the country. So they must be right up there as well. So now if KPK govt has finally given due benefits to MPAs (after showing a surplus budget), I dont see a reason to criticize them, unless they dont halal their salaries.
That is a crime many are guilty of, and they should be taken to task. However, there is one thing that must be noted. There is a difference between ‘not paying taxes’ and ‘not filing a tax return’. Both are crimes, but the latter is a technicality, as all MPAs/MNAs get their tax deducted at source, but fail to file a return, becuase they just dont care, or dont know better, or just think they are better than that.
