The problem with this whole American talking approach is that the yanks would uppity uppity outta here one day but Pakistan has no option to “leave” the region. Compare it to back home and you would see how US deals with violent thugs. We negotiate with Taliban and to quote the former President Musharraf, much to many people’s heartburn, he summed it up best that “negotiations is about give and take. Both sides have to give in order for a successful negotiation” when he was on the Daily Show in his last appearance.

Let’s see what they give in.. it’s too early to say anything at this time. Last time when NS came in power he tried to sincerely stop the India centric training camps for jihadis and tried to make peace with India.. which was sabotaged by the general you are quoting.. It’s going to be a delicate balancing act for NS this time also.. I hope he doesn’t fail this time.. his track record is good as far as making a sincere effort to stop the non sense of using our territories as a base camp to carry violence in other countries. NS’s intentions are more or less evident from his track record.. His execution failed last time.. let’s see what happens now..!!!

P.S. Any successful execution plan by NS would require his civilian control over the army establishment.. who are also a player in all this game along with the Taliban. The ex army general-dictator required terrorism problem to rise to justify his longevity to stay in power.. thus allowed safe havens for terrorist in Waziristan and other places, harboring Quetta Shura (and suspected harboring of OBL and Al Zawahiri), double games, handing over Swat to Fazalullah, accepting huge influx of jihadis from all over the world after American invasion of Afghanistan… etc. etc.
