NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

I don’t think that will be rubbing of nose. England have nothing to be ashamed of. We all know that. Although one can say that aussie ass has been kicked hard, after all they were beaten by BD and with england it has been an evenly matched competition uptill now. You have to admit that they didn’t see all that coming:D

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

Yaaaaaaaaaaay!

Gilly's century with a boundary.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

My, My aren’t we getting carried away a bit. It is only a few weeks ago that this very unbeatable team had the honour of losing to BD. Of course they are the best team around but not the indestructible team they were boasting about before the tournament began. How the mighty fall.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

Okay…but I don’t think gap is closing down. And no way…England is not close. I’ll put New Zealand ahead of them.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

Whaaaaaaaat? Two of three Aussies batsmen have the striking rate of 100 or more. That’s not called nose rubbing? OK

Try this.

Run rate of 7 or more in the Finals against a opposing crowd on opposing soil.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

The English bowling has comprehensively failed...so Australia win the series...

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

What did you think of England’s nine wicket victory?

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

I am not getting carried away. Let’s get this straighten out. And why is everyone bringing up Bangladesh in the discussion. It’s not they have beaten Aussies but teams like Pakistan, India and Srilanka too.

Losing is a part of game. Maybe, it’s not often for Aussies but they sure know how to respond, how to rise, when things aren’t going their way.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

England was a better team.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

Australia 203/2 (31.0 ov)

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

but Pakistan, India and SL were not two time World Champs i.e. dominant for 6+ years, unbeaten for such long periods.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

and what about the number 10th team beating the hell out of number1 side. Thats you call nose rubbing.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

^ I was sure you would bring Pakistan 's loss to BD up. But you see Pakistan is not the indestructible team, Aus claimed they were and than got whopped by the lowest rated team. They were unable to win the Natwest trophy and had to share it with England and now it is a close 2/1. Not so invincible are they?

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

Can you tell me when Bangladesh is going to beat Australia next time around? :hehe: hmmm maybe next century?.

Aaaaaaaaayoooooooooraaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy

You really think media is gonna bug Aussies on this rant? that they were champ and lost to the losing team. Come on… in the end everyone counts the winning column and trophies.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

Like I said, once in a lifetime… Good for Bangladesh…that justifies them to be called Test playing nation.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

People in the 1980’s thought no one will ever beat WI. Need I say more. :hehe:

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

I brought India and Sri Lanka too.

Wasn’t that a plumb LBW on the last ball?..on the replay, Ian was about to called it but never said it (homer I say)…and I was right when I made the comment of England being lucky to share the trophy because they wouldn’t be so embarrased like they are today.

Again, you and others might think they are not the same team. Of course, they aren’t. They have introduced new players to scene..it takes a time to adjust but you just can’t write them out or even favor other teams ahead of them. You have to put Australia first than anyone else…talent wise, work ethic…and most of all…Team Effort.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

Aussies win with 8 wickets and 15.1 overs to spare!

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

So, in the end everything came together for Aussies.

Re: NatWest Challenge 2005 - England V Australia

Hello all. I missed all of the match because of exam but it was not an interesting match so no big deal. Australia played superbly. The difference was that their backup bowlers shone in last two matches and they won. Gilchrist is back in form with a bang of a hundred. Superb. Ashes series is going to be thrilling this time around.

Talha, You can dance all around but just look at the number of defeats australia faced in last few months and you will see that other teams are closing down the gap. Newzealand, WI, Pak, Eng, BD (:hehe: ) all have beaten them. England and australia are as closely matched in this series as it can be. Australia knows that other teams are closing down. If they wanna live in denial, it will be even better for the other teams.

Bring on the ashes. It shol dbe exciting.
