Anything that works. Sex is out of question. I do sometimes get light exercise and it doesn't have any effect.
That might be the problem Go hard!
Do some sprints (run all out for about 70 yards, wait two minutes, repeat 8 times) or lift weights which are heavy (5-8 reps) with compound exercises (squats, deadlifts, bench press, shoulder press). You will definitely feel better because these workouts are so taxing, especially the spring one. You'll be so tired that whatever may have had you depressed will be forgotten.
It's like Maslow's hierarchy of needs: it's hard to worry about the state of your life when you have to pee really badly! But the **hard **exercise does actually change your body chemistry which literally improves your mood, it's not just a "think positive" thing.
