Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
^ He and Brett Lee has been in business since WC'03. Its just that they didn't play in those matches.
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
This is what I have said. Without them Aus is not a team and they will not win most of the times. As for Symonds he is a guy who is friendly to every one in the team, and most players love him so when Aus banned him players were not happy with the ban. As he came back they were on track again.
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
By this logic they will not lose again? ![]()
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
They can lose, but not from BD..:D
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
^ Oh well, lightning does not strike twice :-p
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
:(
..but great players like Symonds and Lee can strike as many times as they want. :)
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
A team's number 1 ranking depends upon how many match winners they carry. Australian have 6-7 players who can be a match winner on their day and each one of them have shown it in the past that even when they are in trouble one of the player would deliver. England is also following this path since they have also sufficient number of players in their side who are match winners and if they perform consistently in years to come we can expect england then replacing australia.
When australia lost to BD it was one of those days when you never know presence of lee or symonds could have avoided the humiliation. However I am not taking away anything from BD, they achieved their biggest victory that day because of some extraordinary performances.
I won't say that without lee and symonds australia is not a team but yes with them in the ODI side i know that chances of them losing are much lower as compared to their chances without them.
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
Yes agree with you and the same applies to all great players.
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
The ban and behavior towards Symonds did disturbed a lot of players mentally. It was just Ponting and a couple others who supported it and went for it. You can lose to this much weak sides only when your players are not mentally prepared for the game or have some other problems.
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
I don’t know if they were mentally disturbed, also didn’t read any news regarding any players problems related to symonds ban. Australian sidee consist of real professionals and I would be surprised if they underperformed because of that particular incident. Even if they were mentally disturbed, I don’t think they were weak enough to get beaten by BD. Yes Symonds or lee’s presence could have avoided the defeat but i think they could have won even in their absense because cmon it was Bangladesh not England. Bottom line is that they played badly that day and BD had to win to create history. These upsets are bound to happen some day in cricket.
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
BD: 26/1 off 6.4 overs...a bad start...
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
BD: 83/1 off 17.0 overs...recovering...
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
BD: 101-3 (26 overs)
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
BD: 208/7 off 50 overs...easy target for England...
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
Professionalism is one thing. You cannot just put a player out of the side cause he was late yesterday night and could be drunk at the moment. When BD game started, there was no ban on Symonds. He was just left out on the will of Ponting. This is not professionalism and what Ponting could have expected from other players in that match. Even after the match, Ponting was the one who went to favor the ban. Every player is as important in the team as Ponting himself.
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
Eng: 188/4 off 36.1 overs...
PS: BD don't have real pacers...thats why they couldn't bowl the opposition out...
Re: Nat West series - England, BD and Australia.
Bangladesh 208/7 (50 ov)
England 209/5 (38.5 ov) England won by 5 wickets
Bangladesh RR: 4.16
