I always understood to stay quiet and listen while the imam recites in the first two rakaats, and read silently in the 3rd/4th. Just wondering if you had any reference handy about the hanafi position of staying quiet altogether (neither aloud nor silently reading)?

Also my understanding is that if Quran is being recited aloud, you are suppose to listen to it, not recite aloud/silently in any situation, whether it be salat or otherwise.

Of course … I would not answer this without a reference at hand … However please note the reading of prayer in the silent rakahs is allowed but not required, but it is not allowed in the audible rakahs … Anyway … I’ll get the reference out when I return inshaAllah … (As I am out of the country at mo) … Peace
