it's just a cultural thing and is as a result of lack of deenii knowledge. one must know that ALL the good and bad comes with the PERMISSION of Allah so one must constantly seek Allah's protection 24/7 by reciting MASNOON du'aayeN...[not gimmicks given by peers and chhaR kamanDlis].

Many of the sunna also adds to barkat. Like the way, Muslims are asked to drink water, can adds barkat by avoiding side-effects of drinking water in other ways (i.e. yak-saahi aur khaRe hokar pani peena).

Similarly, its also taught that if you don't do shukr on what you have been provided with, then it can bring nahoosat

TRUE...but, my point was, as usually is said in tableeGhii jamaa'at aother jamaa'at Halaqaas, that unintentionally not doing a sunna is NOT a SIN...that's it! :) they imply that if you don't, somehow you are sinning.

as much as i know, one is encouraged to revive a sunna which carries a great reward.

this could be as a result of erroneously associating black color with ‘kaalaa jaadoo’ and also because it’s associated with moHarram.
