its the same issue in India and China as well, social spending has to play catch up with growth. Pakistan needs to do a lot more in this area.
but they are talking long term sustainability of the growth, when was teh last time we had the luxury of talking about long term sustainability of economic growth..or even short term growth..forget sustainability…just a decade ago we are worried about defaulting on loans…
agree..most developing countries need to spend on social sectors..but there have been studies which indicate that we have the smallest spendings on the sector…have u heard abt kaiser bengali?
FOL these studies...do they show a trajectory for last 30 years?
do look at that as well, compare population growth rates, ecnomic growth rates and then per capita spending over that period.
things are nowhere close to being perfect. but have improved.
if things destabilize and our trajecotry changes, coupled with regimes that did a piss poor job of addessing such issues (regardless of their political party slogans), you can imagine what would happen to such spending.
PS: if u really start looking at our ranking as a country on different scales u woud die of shame.
PS2: and if the current rankings are so shameful, please do not read the past ones, they may even leave your departed soul depressed for eternity
PPP will almost certainly have to ally with MQM to run the country. interesting.
Yeah the degenerative forces will be coming together yet another time...PPP/MQM nexus is nothing new...and it runs very deep along ethnic and sectarian lines...
True, in a fair election PPP can easily get enough seats to form majority in Sindh assembly
As for the ‘deal’, it was in final stages, but that was when Mush was in a position of strength, and he has never been weaker.
Now that all analysts predict these are the dying months of his govt, there is no need for the PPP to make a deal. Mush needs BB more than she needs him.
A deal to save Mush would not be in PPP’s interests, from its leaders to its workers.
What a shame... now that Imran has raised his voice against Altaf, I hope he would raise his voice on this issue as well. I also hope that Pakistani media would raise this issue.
If the deal is to get back into power, and that is what everyone wants according to u, why would PPP be disappointed with it? I am curious. Surely none of these goons can be principled enough to be disappointed with their leader for abandoning ideals to get into power. SO why?
Bhaijan, are you saying tha PPP Jiyalas are unprincipled goons?
