Personal Experience:
Someone very close to me was an accountant in one of the front companies owned by Zardari. While Zardari was in jail during Musharraf’s tenure, that accountant was called by NAB to testify, as that person had intimate knowledge of the fact that Zardari was the main beneficiary of that company, and hand first hand knowledge of money laundering and many other crimes committed at the behest of Zardari.
That person was threatened into hiding by Zardari’s goons. They had to leave their house, their city, and even contemplated leaving the country at one point, despite assurances by NAB of full security. However, that person’s family, kids and relatives were being threatened as well. Went on till NRO was signed.

You are right, old habits die hard. Once a wadera, always a wadera. PPP has had a murderous history, dating back to ZAB. No secrets about it.
