Any time I read/hear Gerard st., it ticks me off 
When I visited Canada in 02, I asked the desi taxi driver (while he was taking me to the hotel from the airport) if he knew where they Gerard street was so he could take me there in the evening. He said there is no street named Gerard st. and there is no street with desi shops/restaurants
