""",actually my duppatta ws set according to my lehnga settings so my family buzurks wanted me to do a veil so i jus pulld off my cousins dupatta aur itna laambaaa ghoonghat daal liya."""
I dont get it.. So did the buzurhgs want you to do purdah??
Did u end up taking it off on stage then??
before arriving on stage obviously mein apne lehnge ki setting kharab nai kerna cha rai thi ..
yep my bazurgs wanted me to do purdah which is not a bad thing as far as i think.
Congratulations--lovely pictures! I've seen many families with the bride covering her face with a veil. They usually lift the veil once the Nikah is signed or when they do the mou dekhai rasm. Or maybe the family has strict purdah rules, so they keep the veil on until the men leave.
I can understand that they would want to lift the veil after the nikkkah ceremony. Thats an excellent observation.
However, the mu dekhai is not a public rasam. In very old times the dulhan always had a veil throughout the entire wedding ceremony and so once the couple retired to the room, the veil was supposed to come off and the husband was to offer the bride a present called mu dekhai to ask permission to lift her veil.
I also want to share my observation about what I have witnessed nowadays. The concept of purdah has become almost fictional. I have been to some weddings where the girl does pardah otherwise, but on her wedding, she is made up like a regular bride. I am always curious why they dont maintain the pardah on their wedding days. Its hypocrisy. I am not judging those who do or dont do pardah, I am, however, interested to know why those who actually do practice pardah otherwise, ignore it at their weddings.

Oh ok. Its like a surprise package! haha.. thats cool! :)
No, not all. Its not a bad thing at all. Its very respectable.

Thoughts?
I misspoke. You're right about mou dekhai. The veil sometimes gets lifted when they do the mirror rasm...don't know the name of it though.
As far as purdah...I'm already relaxed about it. Yes it is a hypocrisy, but every girl wants to look glamorous on her wedding. Sometimes the temptation is too much. They're human too, lol.
oh come on gals dnt make issues jinhe pardah kerna hai wo pardah karein jinko nai kerna wo na karein kiuu,...
raatkiraani: sheesha dekhayi mein sirf dulha hi dulhan ko dekh sakta hai sheesha dulhan ke ghoonghat ke niche rakha jata hai...
I honestly don't see how you gathered we're making an issue. I had an opinion and seriously asked for others' thoughts on it. Thats all. I don't believe I sounded frustrated or judgmental. Its merely a discussion.
TP, I really like your nath. Its very different. I have seen people wear them but it looks quite spectacular on you. Did you get that made or did you purchase it?
^no i m wearing chutki wali nath ....my nose wsnt pierced tht time.
Are you serious? wow. I recently got my nose pierced because I want to wear a nath on my baraat too. Its been very irritating. I haven't had any infection but the pain is still there and sneezing can be a chore! I didn't think a clip nath could look that natural...! Now I'm kicking myself! haha..
