My Pakistan

Re: My Pakistan

Updated !

Re: My Pakistan

Thanks so much for deleting those previous photos. I like to present them in this manner.

The Kaghan valley

Naran - I last visited this village in the year 2000. After 9 years it had grown so much. It is a town now.

PTDC Huts, Naran - I saw a few foreigners staying at these. The huts are pricey but must be an experience staying there. There are different rates for different levels of service. How nice it would be to sit outside this and just read a book or drink a cup of tea :stuck_out_tongue:

The River kunar at Naran

Prancras Gill is a singer from Gujranwala who is employed bt the PTDC to entertain guests staying at their huts. He sang for me. He was quite good but went on a bit lol :stuck_out_tongue:

1 more scene from around Naran

Re: My Pakistan

From Naran I made the compulsory trip to Jheel Saiful Mulk, an alpine lake over 3000 metres above sea level.

The whole has has been declared Jheel Siaful Muluk National Park. I love the ascent
.

Citrine Wagtails are very common up here. I love Wagtails. Their bright colours, bouncey flight and bobbing of long tails is just so cute!

A tail-less salamander/lizard/gecko basked on a rock.

And a White-capped Water Redstart

It had snowed very heavily during the winter of 2008-2009. Snow was everywhere. Paths had only just opend up.

The one thing I love about Saiful Mulk is that every photo looks different. I could not believe the sight before me!

At 5200m high approx, Malika Parbat, the Queen of the mountains just rests!

This is a photo I took off the lake 9 years before this visit. It was taken just after the middle of August. It was taken with a non-digital camera. After August the flowers die off. Autumn sets in.

Re: My Pakistan

You have great photography skills.

And those are some awsome pictures.

Re: My Pakistan

so beautiful, these photos help some of us that have never visited pakistan to do some sightseeing through your pics. that lahore gymkhana house looks so nice. btw what’s a gymkhana?

Re: My Pakistan

no more pics :konfused:

Re: My Pakistan

A gymkhana is a club where the elite would play sports like horse-racing and golf.

As you can see the gymkhanas in Pakistan are of British colonial origin.

After i left Naran in June 2009 I headed off to Shogran another place i had not seen since a long time. It was 7 years since i last visited it.

The forest in Shogran can be thick and very steep. The views across to Musa ka Masala are amazing!

Shogran and the surrounding area has so much great wildlife - Black Bears, Brown Bears, Leopards, Wolf, Red Fox, Leopard Cats, Flying Squirrels, Yellow-throated Martens, Ibex, Markhor, Goral, Musk Deer, Himalayan Griffon Vultures, Lammergeiers, Golden Eagles, Kestrels and this Dark Grey Bush Chat. The females are brown, not Grey. Shogran is very rich in birdlife!

And heres the view going down over Kawai, the gateway to Shogran.
