I am NOT desperate enough to just marry anyone if he is waayyyyy different from what I want in a person (and my criteria is not a very difficult one, just some basics like age, education, family background etc). But yes, my mom is desperate enough to compromise on many many things and we always end up fighting on this issue whenever there is a proposal 
My attitude is based on my thinking that age does not restrict whatever is written in your qismat and I have seen women even in their early 30s to be getting decent proposal and getting married to a comparatively ‘right’ guy.
I feel its once in a lifetime decision and we cannot just jump into any relationship in desperation. Its the society and the family which is more desperate for us girls to get married at the ‘right age’ irrespective of her individual situation.
