I would blame the strict behavior of her parents for what she is now. Even if we discount 90 percent of what she is saying about what happened to her as a child , as a teen ager , it was surely not a nurturing environment . Who she is now is surely is a product of her treatment at the hands of her family.
What was done to her as a child is not dictated or mandated by Islam. Islam on the contrary emphasizes that a nurturing environment should be provided to the kids. Kids were treated with so much respect and care by our holy prophet and his companions.
