My fatwa about late taraveeh

Re: My fatwa about late taraveeh

there is a Shaykh here in toronto that has a 30 minute taraweeh prayer.

i actually enjoy the longer taraweeh. i like listening to the recitation of the Qari...i find it peaceful and soothing and a perfect way to end the night (rather than watchign tv or on the computer). Some members of the congregation do leave after 8 or 10 or 12 etc...no one is forcing them to stay for the full 20.

Islam is an easy religion..Allah SWT does not want one to get "sick and tired" of their prayers and duties. You do what you can and what you want to.

Its only one month out of the whole year where the sleep might get affected...for me, its worth it.

Re: My fatwa about late taraveeh

:jazak: Very informatic thread.

Re: My fatwa about late taraveeh

well traweehs r not obligatory and even lengthy faraz namaz should be avoided by imams, see following hadees.

The people of Yemen
complained of the length of Mu’az’s prayer, so the Messenger of Allah
 restrained him. Al-Bukhari and Muslim narrated from Abu Mas’ud al-
Ansari, who said,
“A man said, ‘O Messenger of Allah  I hardly attend the (jama’a)
prayer, because so and so person makes it long.’ As a response I
have never seen the Prophet  in any preaching angrier than he was
then. He said, ‘O people! You drive the people away. So whoever
becomes Imam to the people let him lighten (the prayer), for there
are amongst them the sick, the weak and the one who has a
pressing need’.”

Re: My fatwa about late taraveeh

Told. I feel you man as to what you mean. This is exactly what is happening herr in uk too. Also your understanding is correct. Hence we in my mosque I only recite half a spara per night. Due to like you mentioned ...short nights. Technically if you look in Pakistan in rural village areas ppl still do traveeh in short suras. I know that my grandfather was imam all is life. And throughout he lead the traveeh in suras for over 50 years of his life. So its not compulsory to do a full quraan.Next year we ourselves will be doing traveeh in suras. And if someone is interested in listening to the full quraan then we will be holding that jamat in nafl after asr time. This way we will have yhe full quraan and travih in 20 mins after isha.

Re: My fatwa about late taraveeh

Does any school of thought allow offering nafl prayers between asr and maghrib after you have performed asr prayer?

Re: My fatwa about late taraveeh

^ Nope. Nafl after asr is not permitted. I don't get what fbi786 meant?
