Seems like you beat the CRAP out of the cake batter.
Be nice and gentle to the batter, you use a medium speed(if the mixer has 5 speeds use 2-3)…you just need to get everything together well. Mix eggs and sugar together first(dont beat too much, eggs phatt jayenge!) and then add flour,baking powder,vanilla essence and milk to it and beat at a low to medium speed until batter is smooth and creamy!

thx guys..where will i b widout ur support..hugs... yeah i just beat too mch i guess. the recipe asked ti cream butter sugar,, i beat alottttttttt at that time, then i added egg one at a time and each time i beat it... ill b careful. IA ill hv sumthin nice to shiw u sooooooooooon
^ just follow recipes exactly. once you've mastered baking and understood what ingredient does what, you can go about substituting ingredients. but baking is basically not like cooking in that there is no andaaza mainly. the recipe is what it is- you get all the ingredients, you follow it precisely, your cakes will come out perfect! keep trying! :)
yar almost everyone (be it chef or a housewife) has different methods of makin batter and its soooooooo confusing. like corrupt angel said to beat eggs n sugar together... majority say to beat butter sugar together... some say beat eggs and then add other ingredients or vice versa etc. its so confusin for me.. dusnt it make a difference wot ingredient goes first etc??
yup like the recipe said.. mayb i din add buttermilk thaz y...or ** bakin powder... **or simply my beating it too mch
You didn't add baking powder?? If yes, then this is the main reason your cake came out flat,crispy!! I don't think there's a cake recipe in which baking powder isn't used!!! It's the main ingredient so never skip it.
Btw, sorry I said beat eggs and sugar together(Somehow I thought it was a cheesecake)..in this case beat butter and sugar first!

Don't you get boxed batter? Use those first to get used to it, then move on to baking from scratch.
U cant bake cupcakes without baking powder dear :) and dont worry.....practice makes perfect....when i started baking, my cake dint come out good till my 3rd attempt....so dont worry and keep trying!and also like all said.....add the EXACT measurements! :)
