I know....
But just when I seem to make peace with it someone comes along to tell me OMG...!!...why on earth am I committing the sin of not breast feeding her...and no,I am not talking about desis...
oh well...on the bright side bottle feedings dont take that long and the mommy-baby battles have ended so baby is very happy...:D...(AH)

Its funny how goraas, etc. are also getting obsessed with Breastfeeding, and I don't know why but us mommies get so judgmental when we interact with other mommies, I hope I never do that..... ignore them and enjoy this time with your little one :)

chips6 I was in the same boat as you few months ago. my daughter is now Masha ALLAH about to be 9 months old n she did the same, gave me very tough time after 2.5 months n I know pumping doesn't help that much, my husband used to ask me leave her if she doesn't wanna be breastfed just fill her tummy with what she wants...
I think she is your 1st baby, as the new moms dont have the experience so it happens like this, my mom was with me fro 1st 2 months so she could help me in latching her even if she doesn't want to, after that i had to give up but masha ALLAH she went well with formula, but once had diarrhea and doctor moved her to lactose free formula n now Alhumdulillah she is fine.
so you can try to get help from some lactation consultant/ nurse at home. Else its ok if she is gaining weight n her health is good with formula...

for next baby my mom says we will try not to give bottle at all...just BF so they don't find an easier path

Update...pumping has not done anything good..I have been pumping for 4 days now,several times a day..and all I have is less than half an ounce in 4 days...:(
The baby is happy and content and I think I have made my peace too,but still in the back of my mind I think maybe I could have done something different which might have saved me the disappointment...
I do not want Rx drugs for this and I just hope I do not regret this decision after some time..
I also think I am making a big deal out of this...:(

^Hey!! you did what you could. My mother could never breastfeed, not even for a week.... all of us siblings were formula-fed and we all turned out fine, MashaAllah.... so no worries. And please don't talk about regretting the decision, its not really in your hands, is it?

I agree with MIA !

I could only breast feed my baby for a month and a half after that she has been on formula and Alhamdolillah she is doing just fine. Just to make you relax , my baby was different in a way because she was extremely low birth weight and even then formula has been fine for her.

My mother also could breastfeed me only for 6 months or so because of low supply but I am fine Alhamdolillah.

The main issue with formula feeding is hygiene. Because in case of breastfeeding you don’t have to worry about it but in case of formula you need to be very very careful about these 2 factors:

  1. clean water
  2. clean bottle

I live in Pakistan so clean water is a major issue here so for my daughter we first filter the water then boil it. For bottles we thoroughly wash them and sterilise them.

My mom breastfed all 3 of her kids not more than 6 months each…
I was able to do so for 4.5 months…
If I ever have another one,maybe I will know at that time what I never knew for this baby…

You're giving her what she needs, and she has a relaxed mom that can keep the big picture in mind. That's pretty special!
