they are both fish found only in a certain lake in west africa. the first one lives in empty snail shells at the sandy bottom of the lake, while the elongated one lives in rocky crevices on the coasts. both are quite aggressive and territorial, and take excellent care of their babies. not very colorful, but never a boring moment watching them do their stuff.

yups, thats a betta. they make babies with female bettas. the female betta doesnt have fins that flowy or attractive, so they arent usually found at your usual pet stores. the male isnt as aggresive towards the female as to other males.
the male betta makes a very good dad - he builds a bubble nest for the eggs, guards them till they hatch, and guards the fry for a week or two.
