Amazing pics!
Thank you everyone for your comments.
The expedition took 12 days. After enduring the worst sea sickness over the Drake passage for 2 days - in and way back, we reached the continent. The crew was from Murmansk, Russia – real tough souls. We had three landings each day for a week. One after breakfast, one after lunch and one before dinner. The thermal water was indeed warm enough for a dip, I dipped my feet only. In addition to zodiacs, we had lectures, slideshows and documentaries in the dining room. Most were single travelers – men and women – but the cabins were shared by same gender only. The early you book, the better, I booked a year ago and started saving, because credit cards weren’t accepted.
Here is the first sunrise while approaching the continent – time was 2:30am

Antarctica barely has any vegetation. This hill was covered with lichen.

Ever 5-6 years there is a circumnavigation expedition, where the New Year’s days last 96 hours!
Unlike the south, the North Pole is not land – just frozen water. There is a nuclear powered vessel (ice breaker) that takes you all the way to 90 degree N. Cost just US$20K (starting). Can only dream about it.
You are One lucky guy :k:
You got Visa from british Govt. what if you dont get visa, will they deport you ![]()

One of my professors said, you’ll be a changed man when you get back. So it is.
Munni,
The soil was mostly rocks, pebbles and gravel. The bones in the picture below are of a whale.
