Re: Mustafa Qureshi

what a co-incidence…i saw him on “MazaaqRaat” at Dunyaa News for the FIRST time in my life…i knew nothing about him…

…i thought he would be some kinda maula jatt type of character but i have to admit that he really impressed me with his sophisticated, literate, calm demeanor…he’s soft spoken, mild natured with a flair for poetry. he must have been a great actor:

here is the clip of the show “MazaaqRaat” [NOT muzaakraat :cb:] that i watched on Dunyaa TV last night:

Not in the get-up of Noori Nath

Re: Mustafa Qureshi

ahahhaa trueee!!

Re: Mustafa Qureshi

Yes.I think if a drama or movie is made on Shah Latif, he would be the best choice for playing the lead.

Re: Mustafa Qureshi

Mazaaq raat is doing so well it needs a thread in its own!! Anyone know the name of the DJ??

Re: Mustafa Qureshi

the hosts: Iftikhar Thakur, Amanullah and Sakhawat Nawaz (collectively knows as Chawals and Bhaand)

Re: Mustafa Qureshi

Didn’t know that! But he was and still is so cool :k:

Re: Mustafa Qureshi

who is Shah Latif? is he the same person as Shah Latif 'BhiTaaii'?

Re: Mustafa Qureshi

Is the surname Qureshi used in other countries as well for the descendants of the Quraish?

Re: Mustafa Qureshi

yes the same person. I think the Qureshi couple got a good knowledge about Sindhi poetry as well and Mustafa Qureshi can easily adapt the role of this sufi poet of Sindh

Re: Mustafa Qureshi

Its common surname in Sindh and Punjab. Mustafa Quraishi from Sindh and Humayun Qureshi from Punjab. While Quraishi in Sindh call them Sindhi, I think Quraishi in Punjab don't call them Punjabi

Re: Mustafa Qureshi

Never knew, he is son of Mustafa Qureshi. He has been in many dramas in secondary role. He resembles his Mom

DP: Aamir Qureshi He is son of Mustafa Qureshi

Re: Mustafa Qureshi

For a person whose mother tongue is Sindhi and who has a flawless Urdu diction, how did he become successful in Punjabi films? “I used to get lots of offers from Punjabi producers and I told them repeatedly that my presence in their movies would ruin their project, as I was not fluent in their language. But they were adamant and I agreed to act in Punjabi films that did good business. Hence I continued to do Punjabi flicks,” states the artiste.

And the slow delivery style? “That was in order to counter Sultan Rahi’s brash dialogue delivery,” discloses Qureshi Sahib. “While Rahi was loud, I was soft. As his nemesis, that was the best way to stand my ground in his presence and I am thankful to my radio training that helped me develop my own style.”

:omg: :omg: :omg: :rotfl: This made my day

What?? Well, Lollywood (the Lahori Hollywood) has had its fair share of dubious films. So here is a case of a 1986 film called Hitlar, which has a convoluted plot (and not exactly in the most complimentary way) involving the escape of Hitler’s son after WWII and finding residence in Pakistan as an evil gangster. In this parallel universe, Hitler is also responsible for the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This switching is actually interesting. Pakistan and the US were actually close allies in the 1980s, and the switching of the blame of nuclear attacks to Hitler may be a reflection of the high-regard for the US at the time (ah - things are a bit different now…).

I was still in Pakistan in 1986 - and no I did not hear about the film. But the movie does star two of the biggest action heroes of Punjabi cinema, Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi. Rahi often played a hero, and Qureshi was an expert bad guy. So it is no surprise to find that Mustafa Qureshi plays Hitler’s son (see the photo). And of course, there is a singing and dancing. Well, how can we not have singing and dancing? Oh wait, it also has bears. As it turns out, the son of Hitler (Qureshi) uses bears to try and eliminate his chief rival (Sultan Rahi). No seriously. This is part of the plot! This is pretty awesome.
