Must See Malls in Dubai

Re: Must See Malls in Dubai

No sorry! :smack: I guess that’s british..

by how did you find the aquarium i meant did u like it or not etc etc how was the experience of visiting it… i.e how did u find it :bummer:

^ lol oh sorry.. i took it in other way.

Aquairium was nice. I liked it. Tunnel was more nice compared to top floor. I should have not paid dhs.25 again to see 2nd flr.

I didn’t like Dubai Mall at all when I went there for the first time, which was a few days after the opening. Half the shops were not open and it was extremely tiring to go around (which it still is of course).

The second time we went was very recently and I do like it much better now. What I liked in particular:

  1. The dancing fountains: Right outside the mall there is a huge (artificial) lake with dozens of fountains that operate according to the music that plays there every full hour. When we were there they were playing “Time to say Good Bye”. I don’t know whether they operate the fountains on any other songs too. But that was really beautiful. There used to be a comparatively small dancing fountain at Mall of the Emirates. But it seems the owners of MOE got too greedy and have demolished that fountain to make way for 40 additional shops.

  2. The Ice Rink: I haven’t gone ice skating at Dubai Mall myself (yet), but I really like the fact that this ice rink is there. Reminds me of my childhood in Austria. I will definitely try it out on one of my next visits.

  3. The Aquarium: It’s just impressive to see that huge aquarium in the middle of a shopping mall. What I don’t like is that you now need to buy a ticket to walk up to the front of the aquarium. Previously you only needed a ticket for the tunnel inside the aquarium. Dubai Mall owners got greedy too.

  4. Book World by Kinokuniya: I was told about this book store at Dubai Mall and when I went inside it was just fantastic. The place is huge and they have every kind of book you could imagine from Children’s storybooks to thrillers and Sci-fi novels. And that in every language you could imagine. You’d probably need a full day just to explore that one shop.

  5. Prayer rooms: Most of the malls in Dubai (even the huge ones like Deira City Center, MOE and IBM) only have one prayer room for men and one for women. Those prayer rooms are quite big, but it’s quite inconvenient to have to walk all the way from one end of the mall to the other, in order to reach that place. Dubai Mall has taken a different approach. The prayer rooms there are quite small, but there’s several of them on every floor. I don’t know the exact number of prayer rooms in the mall, but I’m quite sure it’s at least 10 for men and 10 for women if not more.

I loved the dancing fountains.. very pretty!

Re: Must See Malls in Dubai

meh, i dunno, i'm still not a fan of dubai mall. it's way too much unecessary walk. i'd probably go there only if i wanna go to a store that isn't in any of the other malls, like, taco bell. i still like city center, it's more manageable, like a mall should be, and then maybe mall of emirates. but my top fav's got to be festival city so far. it's just nice. the food court could be more like dubai mall's though :o

Festival City is small :( they don't have Morelli's ice cream either! ooh and california pizza kitchen!

Re: Must See Malls in Dubai

but they do have cold stone (or whatever it’s called :o) :jano:
and ikea
and ace hardware!

Re: Must See Malls in Dubai

khumar have u tried birthday cake flavour from coldstone?

Re: Must See Malls in Dubai

not yet. it sounds super sweet =/

Re: Must See Malls in Dubai

NOpe it's not sweet. However it is their best flavour ever. Veryyyy nice! It's like you are eating cake and ice cream at the same time. 2 in 1.

Ooh coffee ice cream with oreo's! Khumar u need to have Morelli's chocolate nut sundae in love

Re: Must See Malls in Dubai

gina where is this sundae available from?:hmmm:

Morelli's at The Dubai mall.. right next to the waterfront.
