Civilians against an invasion
That part you canna refute. ...
North Vietnamese were fighting a military war under Gen. Jiap. Sure the commies were popular among rurual peasents. However you can hardly call it "Civilians against an invasion".
Leftie authors (and not you personally), in the USA are using Vietnam to scare the US troops. Your personal view of Vietnam is respectable but it is not true as per Fiskians and Hershians.
Detailed analysis of every past war is essential for the "warriors" or insurgents of the present and future. However it is too much to expect from arab insurgents. Look they didn't learn a darned thing fighting Israel for the last 60 years.

That may be the case ... I don't want to argue with that. However your emphasis on war as nation building solution is out of sync with current modern day scenarios.
Imam Zaid Shakir has said that why do Muslims concentrate on fighting fire with fire? The strength of the West is their military machine, but ours is our faith.
The media engine stems from - 'the pen is mightier than sword' so it should not be ignored as a significant potent strength in the battle of good versus evil. War is not as great as you want it to be. Yes in early Islam there were battles which were won and were lost, but the real power of Islam came from it's identity, dawah and within a few years of peace there became more Muslims in number than the previous decade of fighting and evading.

Wars don't build nations, people do, the soldiers do, the engineers do.
Wars do get rid of cancers like Saddam and his Bathroom-Baathi-party. This frees up 80% of Iraq population (Shias and Kurds) to make something of their lives.
Wars are prolonged by the cancer (5% of Bathroom-party dominated by Sunnis) as cancers always do.
Imam sahib is right on Muslims to some extent, but clearly wrong on the West.
West and especially Anglo-Saxon West progressed due to their faith in non-tribal, non-leftie economics. Muslims and others failed because of their belief in the gods of leftism, and tribalism.
You say Muslims' strength is in their faith. But faith in what? Faith in Allah, and not faith in their tribal chief. Faith in hard work, and not their faith in government dole outs. Faith in free and equitable trade and not the one based on shops selling corrupted, adulterated products.
We as Muslims must bring this faith thingy out of darkened hojras (dungeons in the mad-house madrassahs) and implement in our shops, schools, and in our lives.
The most violent source of Islam these days is Egypt. The same country is the most corrupt, morally bankrupt, economic basket case in the whole world. No wonder the same country produces the likes of Attas, and Mohajirs who go to other countries and bomb and behead innocents.
Now you are losing it Mr. Hareem! Since when the Arabs have become the masters of media. Oh you wanna point towards Al-Janaza Al-Jazira? hahah!
