Mussels, Oysters, Caviar, Escargot, etc.

I suppose which version of islam you follow. oops sorry that was rather politically incorrect, I mean which fiqh/madhab and other made up names you follow, oops..politically incorrect again.

Re: Mussels, Oysters, Caviar, Escargot, etc.

X2...I went to a decent place for dinner and my friend ordered lobster...I think it was Ruth Christie's or something like that...its a steak house in downtown. She loved it and I tried a small piece but I didnt like it.

However, I DID like steak tartar...that stuff was good!

Sushi...is...the...bestest. :)

Re: Mussels, Oysters, Caviar, Escargot, etc.

My mom makes the best shrimp biryani but I still don't like it and will never try someone elses.

As far as steaks go you gotta have them medium rare otherwise why not just eat bbq'ed meat. Anything less than that is just plain gross and anything more will not give u the steak eating/tasting/savoring pleasure.

Re: Mussels, Oysters, Caviar, Escargot, etc.

PS try going to a good seafood restaurant instead. I didn't like any of this stuff till I tried a seafood restaurant in Barcelona recently. Before that I disliked every kind of seafood.

at least its better than not following any fiqh/madhab at all. kher i dont know about urz but my fiqh/madhab asks me to ask questions if are unsure about things, and dont blindly follow anything/everything.

You did??? That's totally raw meat, I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole!

sorry was that a dig zobia, like an underhanded attempt to imply that I dont follow religion? It may not have been that but I just thought I would reconfirm that. I dont want to assume things :)

if I recall quran said that the religion was complete, now these fiqh and madhabs occured much after the prophets death, so there is no reason to follow one fiqh or madhab because they should never be construed as mutually exclusive paths, but diff interpretations of diff things.

so by islam overall there is no concrete proof that it is disallowed, it is later interpretations in which some consider it not allowed and some consider it allowed. follow whatever interpretation you like.

Re: Mussels, Oysters, Caviar, Escargot, etc.

chi chi what a makrooh thread :chai: astaghfirullaHHHHHH. Sheesh. :chai:

Ruths Chris steakhouse makes horrible seafood.
u should go to one of the seafood places,
but even then u may simply not like the taste of it
like my wife can not stand mutton, no matter how good it is, she just does not like the texture and taste.

if u liked steak tartar, try carpaccio.. u will love it

haha have u checked your facebook thread that has become haram now

Re: Mussels, Oysters, Caviar, Escargot, etc.

oooo running to All Views

Re: Mussels, Oysters, Caviar, Escargot, etc.

eww oyesters, lobsters, Mussels, Oysters, Caviar, Escargot ...all these make me puke yukk

Re: Mussels, Oysters, Caviar, Escargot, etc.

X2, you mentioned carpaccio…

I’m apprehensive to admit that the 3rd best carpaccio i had was in Pakistan :hayaa: !.. i kid you not… my aunts chef is a genius…

PSquared… try a horsemeat version of steak tartar… if y’all can get a hold of that in yankland…

Jal_Pari dear - Have you tried any of those that you’re passing judgement on such wonderful foods? :hmmm: What don’t you like about them?

Re: Mussels, Oysters, Caviar, Escargot, etc.

Have never tried any of them, dont think I ever will.

Fish (seafood) are friends, not food!

Re: Mussels, Oysters, Caviar, Escargot, etc.

Oh god, are you one of those ‘vegematarians’?? :hmmm:

If that means I can only afford to eat toast for my dinner, then, yes. I am.

Really??? I thought their food was so gooooooood...minus the lobster of course! But then you're right...I just may not like the taste of it.

Mutton is goat or lamb? Sorry, Im not good with my meat. If its lamb...that is another item I cannot stand on my dinner table. I refuse to make it or even touch it.

I'll look into carpaccio...steak tartar was just yummy!

Maroush...horsemeat version? Ive never even heard of it...anyone else ever tried it?

No I would never try these…by just looking at them I get creeps and goose bumps…really if anything gets me jumpy and scared how can anyone eat that…

you brought in the fiqh/madhab idea whereas u do know that neither u follow one nor me. whereas what i asked was a direct question that what exactly we need to follow. (acc. to Quran and sunnah).
so keep the discrepant logics of fiqh aside sir. cuz they are not important for me, nor u know em.

Ruths Chris is in general good for steak, I would have thought u would have tried the new one on higgins and 59 though.

mutton is goat.

I had carpaccio in italy, best one was in Capri, the second best was actually at an italian joint in philly. since then nothing has been able to match up.

well if you set aside any specific shcools of thought, there is nothing that declares them as haram categorically to the best of my knowledge
