Re: Muslims can not follow Prophet's life
I understand you and I agree ...
... This problem of character deficiencies is what led me down the path of spirituality about 8 years ago.
*The deficiencies within your own character, or the character of others....or both? I think that one needs spiritual strength to deal with other people's crap. The kind of stuff people do amazes me. *
*Is it a fact that we do not have enough awliya in these times? If so, why is that? I have heard that even the wali of Allah doesn't k ow that he/she is a wali. *
Thinking that RasoolAllah (SAW) can't be followed - so we resign with deficient characters Or Thinking that RasoolAllah (SAW) is like one of us - so we see it fit to select alternatives and hence also do not follow him.
We cannot not follow RasoolAllah (SAW) if we want to be successful. We need to restore our faith in his way and at the same time we need to start doing and talking less ...
Yes, it is annoying when people say that the Prophet SAWS is a tough act to follow....he is....no doubt about that. But, that doesn't mean we shouldn't even make an effort. It amazes me the amount of patience he SAWS had with people for idiotic behavior that makes me feel like slapping them silly. We need a drug ...a fast-acting serum that numbs our hearts and minds to people's crap....with stronger dosage for extended family members.

I trust the words of the ulema who I follow and learn from. They are all encouraging us to "give our children in the path of Allah (SWT)" but not in the Pakistani sense ... where families opt to send their kids to madrassa, because it is cheap and their kids have no chance to survive in a the schooling system ... no ... They want the best kids ... We need to change our philosophy that has gradually crept in to the world of Muslims that to be rich and successful is the model thing to be and to be striving for ... We do not choose social science as a discipline to study but rather choose engineering and medicine. Yes, we need engineers and doctors - but not as many as all that among the Muslims. Real strategy of culture moulding happens by others - engineers and doctors are recipients when it comes to culture and society engineering. We leave that task to be done by the economists and social scientists of the West.
We are being encouraged to be a bit less 2 dimensional by our teachers. They are telling us to revive traditions. Home Education and the recent wave of many Islamic groups focusing on good character shows that they want us to start taking responsibility.
They specifically say that many ulema are dying - so by a rule of thumb that many of the awliya are ulema - so even if we can't know who the friends of Allah (SWT) are we can indeed know which of the scholars remain to help guide us. But these are signs - it is my belief and your belief that destruction will not happen on good souls - so if we are approaching the end then can we expect there to be a great number of awliya left?
Also we believe in a rejuvination shortly before the coming of the Mahdi - I believe the movement now has started ... all these political moves have demonstrated losses for Muslims ... The lowest and darkest hour of Muslims has come and is now inshaAllah going ... we are now moving in to a better place. Muslims reacted first by awe and servitude to the West, then there was the emulation phase, then there was the political struggle and counter-political alliances and then there is the hardship phase with despot formation and a dwindling light takes root and starts to shine once again. We are at this juncture in Islamic history ... personal feeling
