Thank you Hamza81. This matter is put to rest by the Quranic references. On a personal level Dr. Siddiqi a family friend of my grandparents and the person who performed my parents Nikah, is an amazing scholar of Islam. Unlike other scholars, he actively references his advice using the Quran/Hadiths.
My thought about this matter is that if you (a Muslim female) are planning on marrying outside the faith, then you are breaking a Quranic tenet of Islam. This is exclusive of whether you become religious or not, whether your spouse decides to convert, or if your children become pious Muslims. You break the rules of Islam and you are liable for the punishment. Your feelings about the matter will not change the reality.
