Muslim teen fears for life after changing religion

^what do you mean by the ‘Islamic world?’ how will Muslim societies judge the father? How will Shari’a law view him? or how will God judge him? The phrase ‘Islamic world’ is sort of broad, don’t you think?

These are all totally different things. A lot of scholars within the different schools of thought have argued that the punishment for apostasy shouldn’t be death and in fact, the Quran itself does not advocate death for apostates.

What sickens me about this case is NOT that the girl converted…to each his own grave. What actually bothers me is the manner in which she has become an object of the conservative right Christian agenda in the U.S. and they have used her as a method to slander Islam and go back to the whole Bush-era ‘Muslims are fundamentalist terrorists’ propaganda. Look at all the conservative blogs today, watch Fox news…you’ll see how they are ALL OVER this story and using it to promote their own political agendas. It’s quite sickening.

So drop the whole ‘what religion is right’ crap…its not about hinduism or Islam. I think this is, at its core, a story about a family being torn apart. the main question is, has her father really threatened to kill her or is she being coached by the pastor who she fled home to go stay with? Its not about whether Islam ordains the behavior the father has been accused of or not :smilestar:
