My views are socially liberal even by US standards. I am not put off by the idea of her competing, or of her photos in a bikini. I recognize that most Muslims and Pakistanis will feel differently. I accept responsibility for how much or not I follow religion and am content to let her do the same.
From a political perspective, I think her victory helps the Arab and Muslim community because it helps emphasize that there is more to Arabs and Muslims than what makes the news with respect to terrorism.
She's a college graduate and plans on going to law school.
Even better. I think it helps if she has traits that bring admiration from the public here.
