Firstly, your first post was logical but the second post was again defensive that you accuse us Americans to be all the time. Btw, you are wrong on Trump as he never said about deporting american muslims, but about curbing immigration from those countries. I do see his bigoted point, but he was railed even by the GOP let alone the democrats. I don't know if you visit those threads or not, but I am never a laptop to CENTCOMM whenever he posts his threads.
Americans are also aware (at least partially) of what their govt does which has fueled the rise of Sanders and Trump. The only american soft spot (for now..) is Israel but UK is allied with them as well. You guys make a huff and puff but blair still went into iraq and libya still got bombed. I would give french more respect on these issues as they stayed out of the war notwithstanding accusations of being pussies and being part of "old europe". Sure, there were "freedom fries" in DC but everyone chuckled on the stupidity of the GOP and it eventually went away.

Every country - be it Muslim or non Muslim has right wing trolls in politics, you guys have found Trump for the moment, and the guy enjoys more of a popular celebrity status in America than most right wing leaders do in Europe. But reality is, extreme far right parties in Britain had never gained more than seat or two in the parliament. BNP, EDL, UKIP have all been massive electoral failures.
What I find is audacity of stupid God Bless America trolls who are quick to dump this uniquely American Trump trash on every politician they find from Europe or from anywhere without having a clue about ground realities.
Blair went into Iraq then so did Bush and Obama also dropped bombs - the foreign policy of this unholy alliance will always be identical. But for ignorant across the pond fools - Blair cannot be compared to your American Trump because it was under Blair that unprecedented funds were pumped into welfare system, in particular NHS. The immigration policy was so relaxed for so long despite high level of migrants from non European countries. He never provoked any inter racial discontent with bigoted remarks. In short, the only biggest crime he committed was going into Iraq, otherwise in domestic affairs, he was very committed to Labour party's pro welfare politics and high public spending. Does that sound like Trump?
To call Cameron a Trump for making ever so relevant and fair point about integration is a pathetically extremist mindset.
But the point remains - if Desi Americans can turn Obama into a God for just turning up at Mosque, then this Dave fella has done the same thing long before anyone whispered this idea in Obama's ears. Should he also be given credit?
Obama refuses to even call it islamic terrorism (ISIS) unlike David Cameron. I think this is where the praise is coming from.
Read my post and then come ponder over your comment above.
Honestly! Come on....
You were being factually inaccurate in your first post and you are being inaccurate again. I don't even like Cameron as I'm a Labour supporter, but he did not equate ISIS with Islam. In fact he told the media to not use Islamic State and use 'Daesh' as ISIS is neither Islamic and the term 'Islamic' sends out a wrong impression to young vulnerable Muslims.
Obama over the years have said enough to directly/indirectly equate terrorism with Islam/Muslims. It is only recently when Islamophobia became an embarrassing and image damaging problem in USA that he changed his tone slightly.
Muslims in U.S.A. have as much if not more freedom to get education, and excel in any field they choose. So, we can stop the "My master treats me better than your master" mindset; it only belittles. Injustice against muslims should be condemned in unisome regardless of where muslims reside, and achievements of muslims should be celebrated regardless of where they reside, and if a muslim oppresses and does injustice then he/she should be spoken against by other muslims regardless of the origin.
Lets keep the thread limited to the topic which is that President Obama visited a mosque and resonated a message that highlights Muslim Americanism, and the gesture is appreciated.
Some of the best exchanges happen when a but of free rein is given to the posters, IMO. There are times when some forums are literally dead. Some passion, some back and forth, hurt no one.
who treats american presidents as god in the US? president bush was ridiculed to no end in the us. there are thousands of funny you tube videos posted by americans about bush…till today, my cure to a severe headache has been humorous videos about Bush. always works like a charm.
president clinton was brutally made fun of by Americans about Monica Lewinsky. many jokes abt Regan 2nd tenure as well when he was too old and was probably suffering from amnesia
yes when they die, americans do pay respect to their presidents regardless of their political affiliations.
and now enjoy another video of our beloved mr. bush
Not sure how we ended up on this comparison trend but I wanted to highlight the following and see what you all think about it. Rather than opening a new thread I am going to just post it here.
U.S. Special Representative to Muslim communities, Shaarik Zafar, who is of Pakistani descent, was appointed in July 2014 to support Secretary of State John Kerry during his engagement with the Muslim communities across the globe. Recently, while talking to a group of Pakistani journalists in Islamabad, he pointed out several key points about religious tolerance, radicalization and militarization of a religion. Special Rep. Zafar once again dispelled the “west is at war with Islam,” conspiracy theory. He pointed out that one way to combat violent extremism is to highlight those Muslim voices which called for peace and tolerance. He also stated that militarization of a religion is very dangerous for a peaceful society as it takes away from the spiritual aspects of religion and invokes sectarian violence. How would you highlight peace and tolerance?
The actions of the POTUS and his words do not match. People tend to believe in action over words when there is a contradiction. It seems that POTUS is just a figurehead and the actual US foreign policy is made in Tel Aviv.
Seriously. This person cracks me up. You mention the U.S. or anything vaguely nice about the country and she comes running from under a rock saying all sorts of nonsense. She has absolutely no idea how life is here for us and how much freedom we enjoy here. She keeps harping on how we are slaves to Amreeka and walk around with our tail between our legs. Every single thread has the SAME responses with the words stupid, insecure and slave thrown in. I guess these thoughts help her sleep better at night. She has probably never even stepped foot here but claims to understand the American way of life right down to a T.

Honestly I don't even remember or know who the hell you are but looks like you stalk my pretty often or I must've ripped you apart in a similar topic. But yup the bold bit is how "stupid, insecure and slavish" desi American typically respond. I could reply how many times I had visited US or my familial ties, but I don't think your silly little harking deserve that.
You seem quite upset by our previous encounters, and I don't want to hurt your feelings any further.
Yes of course you’ve been here countless times and have ‘familial ties’ and you were ‘born and bred’ in Britain. Blah blah blah
Oh I’m not the one who is upset. I actually find your posts very amusing. Man you are always so mad. Ever thought about channeling this anger into something creative? Art maybe? Just a suggestion.
The fact your ignorant and insecure little self thinks that America is some far away seventh heaven outside of this globe where other than Americans themselves, no one can ever lay a foot makes you sound utterly stupid. I can only laugh at this mentality.
I do indeed use whatever anger is needed to pump up the creativity, the rest I dump it on the dunderheads around here. Happy?
But seriously, I'm not going to entertain your little desire for a cat fight, you must be bored, but I find you extremely boring. Having your precious and insecure God Bless America feelings hurt is least of my concerns. You can continue to remain upset about it, I frankly still don't remember conversing with you that's how irrelevant you must've been. But you seem deeply upset by every word of whatever I had said in whichever threads.
But it's okay you can continue to claim how amused you are by my posts by making more and more passive aggressive shtty and snarky posts as replies. But if gets too much, try applying one of your own suggestions.
Never claimed America is some far away seventh heaven. Maybe that is your own insecurity? Laugh all you want at my mentality. Glad to be of amusement to you
Never wanted a cat fight. You’re the one who barged into this thread with your nonsensical views that aren’t true at all and rebutted by every American living here. With the amount of hatred you have for the U.S. it’s hilarious to see you commenting on every U.S. related thread. As I said my feelings aren’t hurt at all but if you insist I’ll make a sad pouty face just for you
I couldn’t care less if you remember having any exchange with me. The thing is you’re so MAD every time you write a post about the U.S. that you probably don’t remember much. Drink a cold glass of water before you start posting on a U.S. thread. And jeez every response of yours claims how others are so upset and offended when in all frankness you’re the one who resorts to childish name calling, clearly portraying how upset you are. Carry on Miss Jolie. But do remember its not healthy to harbor so much resentment towards anything be it a nation or a person. Cheers!
Listen get over your 'you hate US' rant, stop acting so hurt and defensive and pathetically insecure. What the hell are you even on about? For your information, CENTOM post a pro US thread every other day in PA (where I normally post) or WA, and all his posts are well ignored by not just me but resident American posters. So take your imagination of me 'hating on every US' thread. If your feelings are so hurt by one post in this thread, then cry me a bloody river.
Don't make me expose your blatant cheap lying by asking you to go through CENTOM's history of pro America threads and show me where I have even bothered making posts - let alone negative or positive. If you are so damn shattered and hurt over whatever debate I may have had with you (which I still cannot recall exactly), then I don't give two shts. Looking at your mentality, I can imagine what kind of exchange we must have had.
If you are a typical insecure and intolerant desi American that sees mere criticism on Obama as hatred for USA or Americans, than you certainly need more than just a bloody glass of water. Forgive me for not knowing that American Presidents are nothing less than God for insecure desi Americans like you.
For your information - I made a post, and teggy replied to it with a very good counter argument and I just left it at that as I agreed with him. If it was not some lousy God Bless America troll getting so offended and dragging Europe and belittling European Muslims, I wouldn't given a crap about another insignificant American thread.
So really - get a life. Criticism on Obama administration or American Presidents or their political approach isn't equal to hating America the land or its people. They may tell you this in Fox News but this is not the reality. Maybe you need to step out of your little America and see the world that goes beyond your state or two.
Srsly guys, i'm American and i've noticed it too. We don't need to jam patriotism down everyone's throat cos they bring up a valid point about American politics. Jolie makes some good points... this is all political gimmicks. 8 years he's been in office and NOW he remembers to say, "Oh Muslims aren't terrorists" ... it's appreciated on some level, sure. But he could have done loads of things differently.
And to see all these rabid Republicans gaining popularity is .. idk... it's insane. This is reality for us. Everything Trump says just makes him more and more popular. The bullet/pig's blood comment? Like when has a politician ever even implied something as gruesome as that and gotten away with it?! Bush (!!!!!!) seems like a saint in comparison to the Republican candidates right now... like what?!?!
Anyway.. there were a lot of things Obama could have done differently and i'm Canadian by birth so i will be off to Canada if Trump or some other psycho wins. Trudeau is eye-candy and he's nice... so win-win.
