Music

Re: Music

haha, wow.. good to know that, very few people like pop music

Ohh me?? rock/pop music is like my battery.. lol..

my pleasure :flowers:

wahh jee wahh… :k:

Re: Music

Defo Inspirational. You may have to be picky for that but thats where the judgement comes in.

Few years back I heard Bob Marley (yea late, I know) and I fall in love with his songs. Reggae music is really very interesting.

Had music not been so inspiring, people wouldnt use it as an aid in workout. Now its like an integral component.

Re: Music

!!! :hayaa: lol

I take it for granted that everyone’s heard of him because I was born in Jamaica. If you like Bob check out Toots and the Maytels for more old school reggae or maybe one of Marley’s kids for a more modern take. You’d probably like the youngest one, Damian:

Or maybe Sean (if you haven’t heard of him as yet):

Re: Music

I’ve been all about French pop the past couple weeks. Examples:

Tourner Dans Le Vide
Papaoutai (sort of a mix of genres in this one)

Re: Music

Outai, papaoutai, papaoutai, outai, papaoutai, where are you..

good songs.. went through their english translation… good lyrics too…

Re: Music

What do you think about Bob dylon? I hardly listen to him but i think his music has innovation of its own kind

Re: Music

Ten points to you for knowing Dylan! He was absolutely an innovator. Music at the time had been more about making the listener feel good about themselves… the sole goal of music then was to entertain. Dylan turned the whole idea of that on it’s head and instead he chose to challenge the listener… make them feel uncomfortable by highlighting preconceived notions at the time among other things. His music is MEANT to be unsettling. You can’t ā€œOstrichā€ yourself when you’re listening to him because there’s an almost prophetic critique of the well accepted ā€œestablishment.ā€ All that being said… I’ll be honest and confess that I have to be in a very specific mood for Dylan. And Morrison for that matter!

Re: Music

Cool.. I didnt know that much about Dylon. But yea that ā€œmoodā€ was I talking about to listen him. But regardless, one thing I wont agree on was the recent nobel prize given to him on literature. I mean, it just doesnt make any sense. I’m sure there would be far more concrete literature somewhere deserving a nobel. He does deserve all other awards, hands down, but not noble.

May be its just a whole seperate debate.

Btw, luv your signature :k:

Re: Music

I was just watching TV and there was a catchy song in a ad, sounded familiar, so I YTed it. Its by Neil Diamond who i very rarely listen but its a really beautiful track.

Re: Music

I suppose it all depends on how you classify achievement! An article you might find interesting on the subject: CLICK

And thank you re: signature! Rupi Kaur is one of my favourite emerging poets. I like yours as well… reminds me of that Eleanor Roosevelt quote, ā€œGreat minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people.ā€

Dylan and Neil Diamond in one thread… you are an old soul! I bet you and Hukuna would be a blast to spend an afternoon in a record store with!

Re: Music

Haha..thanks and that may be true.

But I digged a lot of music myself. My pandora and spotify contains all variety of stations. And the best way for me is to shuffle across them. Just like earlier example, if I hear a catchy tune, some amazing lyrics or anything, I lookup and most likely end up finding some hidden gem.

Re: Music

That’s not a bad approach. I’d be lost without Spotify during the day.

I grew up listening to all these guys. My parents had… eclectic taste. Could be Depeche Mode one day and Jefferson Airplane the next. This is my favourite Neil Diamond song of all time!! Click

Re: Music

Hmm..nice. Very pleasant melody. And the link had some bio info about Neil as well.

Have you watched ā€œMozart in the Jungleā€ by Amazon? Its nice, light comedy with keep mozart in play.

I started listening mozart just an year or so back when one of my colleagues got me into it. She said its healthy for your mental juices.

Let me tell you, like you know the number 1 TV show right now is Game of thrones. I love it too. And in GoT, wut I liked most is its theme music. Its like its music tells you the entire story by itself. How amazing is that!!

Here is one from Sydney Opera:

Re: Music

We had long talks about music during the camping trip and the boys are trying to educate me on rap and they are so into it, the music if you can call it that has so much gaalibazi and explicit language. @Mystique did you explore young M.A…that kind of music by a desi girl could be explosive.

Re: Music

I completely agree with you!! I love GoT! I mean I practically have a dire-wolf :lajawab:

Wait until you get to season 6 (you aren’t caught up as yet, right?)… the score for that season truly blew me away! My personal favourite is this one: Light of the Seven I think Ramin Djawdi really out did himself.

Let me know what you think!

Haven’t seen the Mozart show as yet! I’ll definitely check it out.

Re: Music

Hello

Bobby, Im open to trying any genre as Iong as a musician can provide great, worth listening music composition and melody to it. Rap is my least favourote genre. More into RnB because Rythme in music and melody is what draws me the most. Everything else is secondary.

This is one of my all time favourites but Im not so hyper to be able to create something like this. Lady dynamite must have surely seen alot worse than I have to come up with a brilliant piece like this. I started working on a rap/rnb pop with someone in May (a woman empowerment but in a fun and amusing way) but due to some reasons, the song is delayed. Despite the SOBs here ganging up on me to prove otherwise, the fact is that I never use any swearing in real life and keep my distance from people who do. So requested the guy Im working with not to include any swearing in my songs with him. Its not tasteful.

I used to love some hits of Lady Dynamite, missy elliot, lil kim, tlc, destineys child when in school due to the rnb content not rap. I like fun, playful, funny innuendo but in a place like pakistan, everything is taken so seriously and people have too wild imaginations. You say one word and frustrated qaum visualizes the worst and accuse you committing all kind of sins which you could not have thought of committing in your dreams. Whereas in their own private lives, the same people do much worse. So doing that also will be simply asking for trouble. Mentality of the majority here is no different than the crowd who lynched mashal khan because that is what they grow up with.

Thanks for inteoducing me to Young MA. The first song I have played of her is quite smooth. No hyperactive disturbed kid screaming swears. She’s good. Gonna try more from her.

Re: Music

I totally understand your point of view on this, when I first heard this stuff in Lil Harris’s collection I was totally shocked and then they told me that all the kids are listening to this stuff and when I was laying in my tent next to them last night I heard Harris rapping in the dark of night from his tent so this stuff is hugely popular with the youngsters here, safy talks about Biggie and tupac n all. There is definitely a niche there and any desi female who exploits it will explode in popularity. Internet age is all about shock value. these boys are straight A clean students and still that is their music. There can also be clean rap..just something to think about. something like..Aaaj dekihi bandookh ki naal tau hogayyi patloon kaharab, jau baante thai mai baap aab pareyy hain khaak maa…jainay tha shaukh lootnay ka aaj looti hai unki izzat bharey baazar main..etc. I had some serious bad boys in my click when I was there.
