Hazrat, Urdu is our national language too and we know a bit of it.
Hamaqat **is actually an arabic word and i have checked **Feroozullughaat **and it confirms that it is Ha*maqatain and not Hi*maqatein
you should have checked feroz-ul-lughat. :)
there are many arabic words that are pronounced differently in urdu, same for persian, turkish etc. so when we are discussing urdu, we go with how its stated in urdu .

WRONG.. I have Feeroz ul Lughaat Jadeed Edition ... it tells me it is in fact, Himaaqat and to read it as HAMAQAT is a very Himaaqat angez baat..

some people from india or karachi use to much zer in their language thats why its "himaqtain" for some people and "hamaqtein" for luknowi people.
even i heard lot of people saying "ichaar" instead of "achaar".
okay i'll check lughat too.

Bhai Jaan, Ferozullughaat, "urdu" dictionary maiN is ka talaffuz Hamaqatain hi likha hai.

errr I learnt my urdu from my mum, and nana ... a lukhnawi family and they never said hamaqat :)
