A day after the Mumbai terror strikes, investigating agencies turned their gaze to Aurangabad where a telephone call from Jammu & Kashmir was traced just after the blasts. Two months ago, Aurangabad figured on the terror radar when three persons were nabbed there with 30 kg of RDX.
Preliminary analysis of material found at the Mumbai explosion sites have confirmed use of 1-1.5 kg of RDX in each blast.
According to reliable sources, the explosives were placed on luggage racks near the roof on all trains. There was almost no damage to the floor of the train. While small suitcases seem to have been used, investigators are still not certain how the explosives were packed. Technical teams from New Delhi have reached Mumbai to help in the investigations.
