the initial couple of minutes are a bit unusual; first you are stuck in this space which you are not used to, and then you are going to be there for 40 or so minutes..and you think, well this totally sucks! but once you are through the initial effect then you just got to wait out the period..actually, i was asked to let my right shoulder's anatomy done as a volunteer for one of the studies with a local medical school, which i did, and then took some extra time. As far as dye is concerned, I don't think that it's a requirement for certain kind of exams, as I was told that the scan would be almost same in detail even without the dye..but, overall it just highlighted the recovery process, for which i am very thankful to the Lord.. :)
had like three of those done ... hate laying still all that time ..
Doesn’t happen in Canada either. These guys have got too much money.
Thanks for sharing your experience Outlaw. I presume the diagnosis was good?
thanks :) yeah i gotta clean bill of health alhamdulillah, i should be back to full strength on both sides inshallah, in another two weeks or so..
Yea, i know exactly what you are talking about. Eventhough that breathing part wasn't for me because I got MRI for my knees so it wasn't that bad. Though it was for my back cuz im constantly having back problems and i had to lay there for quiet a long time since it was both knees and it was NOT a comfortable position i tell ya. my knees had to be in a certain position too so laying there still for a long time was just very painful. They wanted me to wear that robe thingy that they have for patients but I simply could not so i just went in with shalwar kameez :D
People were really nice though lol he kept coming and asking me how i was doing and all but wasn't that bad.
P.S. i din't get that iodide thing either, whatever that is
so how is your shoulder? hope everything goes well

today i underwent a somewhat strange medical procedure. Strange in a sense that it's wasnt' what i had expected it to be; more like a five to ten minutes scan sort of thing like an X-Ray, infact, it was more like as you are going in for a surgery. During the normal course of procedure, a patient is injected with a dye at a place which is to be scanned. The iodide based die sort of contrasts from the ligaments and tissues, and pinpoints where the bleeding may be occuring, or where the damage is done. **But, for me, they decided to skip the dye part, since i had couple of instances of shell-fish allergy in the past. Usually, iodide is the main trigger of shell-fish based allergies.*.<--- you learn new thing everday.

just wanted to tell you to becareful eating cesar salad, because it has anchovie paste and that my have some iodine it that may also cuz you to have an allergic reaction.
and WOW! i'm really surprised to see so many of you have had MRIs done. I think most ppl don't like lying still ESPECIALLY because they know they HAVE to be absolutely still.
I've never had an MRI but the machine is not very scary.
I had my MRI done for my skull.. n yeah it was kinda scary at first.. with cold metal all around you .. n u stuck up in that huge pipe like machine… but then i closed my eyes n listened to the music they provided… didnt like it a bit cos it was too new for my taste
.. any way .. i just closed my eyes n tried getting my thoughts together for stuff wagera … got bored … well.. got through it akhirkaar… YaY for Me :k: .. hehe
