"There are now widespread demands for Musharraf to hang up his uniform and give up power and my hunch is that he will not last the year. This is the worst crisis since he took power in 1999. It is a crisis of legitimacy and it is distinguished by the fact that the protests are entirely secular and democratic in their character. "
Its good that the protests are atleast for now, ENTIRELY secular. The worry is that this may be hijacked by the Religous groups if it goes on for to long...

I guess their will be a ( and is to some extent) a power gap, if not filled by the main stream parties like PML (N) and PPP then things will automatically go in the hand of people who does not represent Majority of Pakistan.
while both are not in Pakistan, Imran Khan should try to make a move.. this is a big opportunity for him..
He already has, by trying to push for some kind of court order against Altaf Hussaine etc... Even if its just a political ploy, its getting him some attention.
I for one would love to see the guy in office, some real fresh blood in politics.
He has a lot of character, and his party is still young and relatively uncorrupted.. So lets see.
^^^ brother thats not a problem, he never had money for Cancer hospital... All India Muslim League never had enough money... once is on the screen, things will get better, if we can make him get him in some kind of negotiable power then not only we can see and judge him and place him on even stronger position in next elections.
You people have no right to be having a seperate rally... If you are fighting for judicial independance then you should have allowed the CJ to address the Rally, and if not, you should not have had your rally on the same day.
MQM is running Karachi and Sindh, they should have taken the high ground, the mature route.. Instead they choose antagonism.. You choose to show your so called strength, and by extension showing your parties shallow attempts at perpetuating your control over every sphere of life in the countries biggest city at the expense of every other group. This is MQM democracy I suppose.
Your party is short sighted and foolish... Without Musharaf and the Army in power, you will be back to being nothing more then a party of criminal thugs.
This is Pakistan. Karachi is a city of 15 million. There is not many police to handle rallies, which is why most of them carry guns. Forget Karachi, tell me how YOU people have secured Peshawar from terrorists?
Do you see the violence there. Women, clerics, tribals leaders, 5-year old been blown to pieces indiscriminatly. The violence in Karachi was among political parties, but what happens in NWFP and Peshawar goes on dead ears. Mashallah.
