Moving to Pakistan

Re: Moving to Pakistan

^ What is sharp tongues? care to elaborate?

Re: Moving to Pakistan

nick names for everyone, they are teasing and say anything without thinking! i think kids who grow up in the west just arent used to it. In pakistan its completely normal!

im not saying tis good or bad i think thats just the way it is.

If i could settle in pakistan i would love to, but i know i will just be eaten alive by society.

really? I dont know much about UK, but US/Canada …far worst than what Pakistan is in this department. you know kids commit suicide (in worst of cases) here coz they cant take the bullying any more? Although I have to agree that kids in Pakistani schools are trying to catch up specially at school which are more westernized and beacon house (where you went) is one of it.

Re: Moving to Pakistan

We need good doctors in Pakistan.

Good decision, ..... you must move, it's time to pay back to your country.

But before moving, open an savings account in some USA bank and put some money for emergency proposes. Lets say you have to come back after a year.. so their should be well 15/25 thousands $.. but again the savings should be according to your living style.

1.5 lac, is a good starting point, you can have a nice middle-class living if you already own a place.

Good Luck.. !

care to explain, why you even bother to go their once a year?

Thats what im saying...that the kids in pakistan seem to be able to cope better with name calling and teasing which happens on a regular basis i see it now when i go back amongst my little cousins...but the kids in pakistan seem to be strong as in everyone is the same....its dog eat dog.

in the uk there is bullying and people get very very affected by it but what im saying is that i think a level of bullying happens alot in pakistan but its not seen as 'bullying' there...its just what kids are like.

ditto

The kids in pak. are like anywhere else, no one takes name calling better . Idk u must be talking about govt. schools or something...I was in lahore beaconhouse & there was no such bullying/name calling...after all its the top notch school (don't know about karachi tho)

Re: Moving to Pakistan

anya did you grow up in pakistan?

I went to beacon house myself in karachi for a year, and i know i really struggled to fit in because i was different...i didnt understand the system and it took me a long time to fit in to the society i just wasnt street wise enough for pakistan standards.

Even now when i go back i stuggle sometimes with the way people just say anything to anyone without thinking and the how sharp the kids are.

Even my dad says when he was in university there everyone used to constantly tease and name call but its just standard there!

Re: Moving to Pakistan

ill give u an example...first day of school...in pakistan they teach you write on a 4 line grid type of thing...in the uk they dont, so i didnt know what i was doing and no one explained this to me...the kids were like haha look at her shes from the uk and cant write. I know here that wouldnt really happen the teacher would make an extra effort to help and someone will be always there to help.

In p.t. didnt know any of the rules the games no one told me anything at all and they just all stood and laughed at me not understanding what was going on.

Maybe they picked on me because i was from the u.k. and so different or maybe i was just extra sensitive.

Im jst giving a personal experience and opinion. I dont mean to offend.

Re: Moving to Pakistan

I wonder why its so hard for some people to accept that negative things exist in Pakistani society, as well as other societies.

nopes!! i went there for some time
had a few girls from UK in my class......it looked all good
hmmm....maybe is it a difference of cities then?? coz even now when i visit karachi/lhr the people are different...can't really put in words here

no offence taken yar...sorry you had a bad exerience

Yup! we should not generalize anything.
There is good & bad in everything and thats where personal experiences come in......if someone had a good experience somewhere they'll like the place more than others & vice versa

Home is where your heart is....People who thinks about their previous generations dont have to worry about their future generations.....Pakistan needs people like you.

People might say Karachi is filthy, the truth is , yes, it is filthy, but that filth which is visible to eyes can be cleaned easily with a broom, ...but what about the filth in the western society that is not visible thru the naked eye.....you cannot clean that with a broom

Re: Moving to Pakistan

Thanks everyone for all the constructive suggestions, criticism, inputs and everything else. I agree with most of the things being said in this forum.

If you are moving in from outside, that means you have decent experience. I am not sure about your job but 1.5 Lakhs is not enough if you want to maintain a similar life style in Karachi (like you had un US). A house in defense will not cost less than 80K/month and then expensive fuel, expensive electricity, expensive gas, expensive education will drain the heck out of you. Think twice.

Then why do you go that dump Karachi every year? You can try as hard as you want to become an American/Canadian etc but in the eyes of the "white people" you will always be a paki.

x 1000,000

There's much more to be lost here than to be gained - do not come back.

and we sure are putting these doctors to good use here…

have you heard of the recent wave of target killings of doctors that has started again…
