I don’t know if there is anything you can really do to prepare yourself for this other than making the most of the time you have right now with your family and loved ones.
Knowing that you can go home, just jump on a plane and see your family after a few hours also is a bit comforting. Also, they can visit you too.
It must be hard though. I don’t know how people do it. My mother moved to England by herself in her late teens when she got married. I don’t know how she managed totally on her own, but if our mothers could do it, surely we can do it, right?
