The email is short and to the point. There's nothing wrong with it and im sure once you show him your samples , resume and so on in october he will grant you the interview :).
In the meanwhile, try to establish a good relationship with him. When he responds back ask him if he would mind you communicating with him from time to time. University professors generally are very open to such communication and ultimately building up a relationship with them based on academia helps a lot.
