I heard she has mental issues and she did sucide and her body was recovered after 4 days of her death when smell started coming from her apartment. and ppl say she committed sucide bc of loneliness

My uncles used to be concert/show promoters here in the US. One of the first shows they sponsored had Divya Bharti in the lineup. She was very sweet and out of all the celebrities involved seemed the most humble. Our city was one of the last in their North America lineup and then they were going straight back to India, so when the news came about her death, the tiime we spent with her was still very fresh in my mind. I really hope it wasn’t suicide, it’s sad to know that she inside she was in so much turmoil while on the outside she came across as being so bubbly and fun.

“Saat Samandar” is still one of my favorite songs from the 90’s :blush:

I had no idea who Divya Bharti was until after her death. I heard about the incident from maybe a friend and then I developed an interest. She was my celebrity girl crush when I was growing up. Now I am not as crazy about any celebrity. She was very attractive, especially her dreamy eyes and smile. I found her more appealing than Madhuri.

A couple months ago I watched a sort of documentary on her death. Her parents were interviewed and they said nothing about suspecting she was murdered. She had moved into her new apartment. Supposedly the two people from the industry, a man and a woman, who visited her were watching TV in the living room while she had told the housekeeper to prepare snacks for them and were not involved in her death. Its said she was a bit if a daredevil and always pulled stunts and that she slipped from her building while. Who knows. I might read up some more on the incident.

Divya Bharti was actually bigger in South Indian/Tamil cinema than in Bollywood. Vishwatama opposite Sunjay Dutt was her biggest success and breakout role, and Saat Samundar is what catapulted her into the limelight. Her career in Bollywood was just starting to take off when she died.

Another celebrity death that shocked me in the 90's was Selena. She was a primarily Tejano singer/entertainer when she hit it big in mainstream English pop music. She was very well known and loved in Texas and was murdered by her then manager.

With Selena, it was clear she was murdered. With Divya, her death is shrouded in more mystery hence greater curiosity about her.
