I don’t know about being “the most” misunderstood but I think Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VII, is definitely one of the most misunderstood people in history. She is either maligned as a seductress, plotter, and homewrecker or portrayed as a tragic victim of her tyrannical husband. In reality, she was a quite a complex woman and neither of these rather one note portrayals do her justice.
