Nearly three quarters (364) killed since Bush declared “mission accomplished” on 1 May 2003…

We now have no less than 57 US and “coalition” soldiers killed since Saddam’s capture just under five weeks ago, and 598 killed in total since this illegal war was launched in March 2003.

US bought 500 Indian mercenaries to save their ass after most nations refused to provide cannon fodders... Indians came in cheap and handy they are being recruited in kuwait....

An editorial in today's Washington Post reads "In Search of Rescue" referring ostensibly to the US occupiers once again running to the UN to bail them out, now that the Shia Muslims are showing their power and opposition to the American's. But I am sure the deaths of over 500 US soldiers in this ongoing war is now focussing people's minds even more than before?

"In Search of Rescue" = face saver.... something that is well known for sometime. Iraq is a mess and will be for a very long time, the yanks are looking for someone to blame. The death toll will continue to rise make no mistake about it and US do not have the stomach to keep this going for much longer. Pulling out without a face saver which includes pinning the blame on someone else is out of the question.

I think US should declare Sistani a fanatic mullah with links to Bin laden/Al-Qaeda and then see shiite hospitality.. :)

welllets just hope that whatever happens, whether transition by US, or US pull out and UN efort, that the people of Iraq live safer and better lives than they had, and same for their neighbours.

*Facing political problems with the majority Shiites and the continuing insurgency by minority Sunni Muslims, the Bush administration is turning to the United Nations, which it had earlier shunned, for help in establishing a democratic Iraq. *

What they'll end up doing is forcing Kofi Annan to place pressure on Sistani to accept that appointments, not elections, are the way to go and to give a fake UN imprimatur for their occupation. That is the only reason this US admin ever turns to the UN.

Very sad…

Iraq Rebels Seen Using More Skill to Down Copters
By ERIC SCHMITT

Published: January 18, 2004

ASHINGTON, Jan. 17 — A classified Army study of the downings of military helicopters in Iraq found that guerrillas have used increasingly sophisticated tactics and weapons — including at least one advanced missile — to attack American aircraft, senior Army officials in Iraq and the Persian Gulf region say.

U.S. death toll in Iraq passes milestone

Yes, so many milestones still being created, after it has been repeatedly predicted that the resistance would die down. First on 1 May 2003, when Bush declared mission accomplished, then when Saddam’s sons were killed, and finally just last month when Saddam was captured.

But US and “coalition” soldiers are being killed more than a dozen a week, their Black Hawks and state of the art Apaches keep being downed, and their HQ’s are being targeted with impunity.

inshallah that figure will rise

Just a week later, and we now have no less than 67 US and “coalition” soldiers killed since Saddam’s capture just six weeks ago, and 608 killed in total since this illegal war was launched in March 2003.

So much for the end of the resistance to the American occupation huh?

Maybe they should put Saddam back in his hole to stem the tide.

Body Bag!

Or at least stop making predictions over and over again that the resistance will die down or come to an end. They have been proven wrong at least three times on this point - once after 1 May 2003 when Bush declared “mission accomplished”, then in July when Saddams sons were killed, and then when Saddam was captured. Each time they have got it wrong…

The breaking news is that large explosions have been heard near the heavily guarded US HQ in Baghdad, yet again, and rockets have landed near a helicopter pad.
