Re: Moody named Sri Lanka coach
I think a major factor in foreigners making better coaches than desis is that coaching system has a lot more weight and respect in countries out of sub-continent. We may respect our academic teachers a lot (probably out of fear) but respecting a PT teacher was rare. Even there was no pressure from parents to show respect to PT Sir. He was there just to make sure we kill the 45 minutes of PT twice a week. I am sure other schools in PAK had similar setups.
Countires in the west put a lot of emphasis on coaching and kids do listen and respect their coaches. So, there is an image or role model to follow in coaches. They tend to produce more 'real' coaches. In our countries, a coach is someone to be made a '*******' of. Nobody listens to him or wants to emulate him.
Did that make sense?
