Isn't Shumacher a German? Should he even be allowed to compete if that's the case?

Hakkinen only became world champion becuz the then best designer in the world left Williams for McLaren.
Adrian Newey was the designer who led Hill and Villeneuve to the world crown in the Williams in 95 and 96...........then he went to McLaren and strikingly enough the new McLaren had quite some similarities with the old Williams. Therefore in 97-98 Hakkinen became world champion.
Prior to this Hakkinen had been driving for McLaren for 3 years and hadn't even won a GP. Suddenly Newey goes there and he becomes world champion. Also, after Newey left Williams that team was nowhere to be found.
On the other hand it is a great acheivement of Schumacher's to lead Ferrari to even a GP victory in '95 after that team hadn't won a single GP for more than 3 years with Alesi and Berger. And after 4 years at Ferrari he manages to take 3 consecutive world crowns after a 38-year wait for Ferrari.
