Re: Moment of great shame for PMLN?
When Punjab Institute of cardiology was opened in Lahore, it was (considered as) one of the best with top notch facilities. Sadly, it turned out to be a feeta cutting venture for the Sharifs, as over the years, it has deteriorated in quality, with no checks and balances. I fear the same for Rawalpindi as well.
I had the (dis)pleasure of visiting Ittefaq Hospital to visit someone 2 years ago, and sadly enough, it presented a look no better than any sarkari hospital, with untidy wards, unkept hallways, throngs of people…not to mention the exorbitant prices.
Status symbol may be a factor in the rich and famous going abroad for every ailment, but whats also true is that they simply dont trust the system that they themselves have built. Just a couple of years ago, 100s of patients died in Punjab cardiology hospital because of bad drugs administered to them. These politicians know what they have built, and hence dont use those facilities…otherwise it should be a matter of honor and pride for a PM/president to use their own hospitals.
Im surprised they didnt go to AFIC in Rawalpindi, which is perhaps the best cardiology hospital in the country. But then again, perhaps he doesnt trust the army either.
