Pakistani senior players has history of hanging on and not giving chance to youngsters in healthy way.
They always wait for to be kicked out. now both keepers rashid or moin are getting old and they need replacement very soon. so they should look ahaed instead of looking backwards.
Moin may be a safe replacement given the situation. but in longer trems it has be replaced with young blood.
Look at his keeping now for Gods sake, he can even bloody hang on to the ball, let alone keep wickets. The extravagant shot play is no more, he is a very poor keeper and an unreliable batsmen as was demonstrated in the first test. I don't think he should be given another chance, especially when the side is meant to be "rebuilding". Try some youngster, someone who is good with the gloves, for that is the primary purpose of a wicket-keeper. If you need a temporary solution, I think even Taufeeq can keep wickets, and much better than Moin at that (just like India are doing with Dravid).

U think Taufeeq will be able to keep wicket to Shoaib Akhtar & Co. , mashallah u think so well....Sadqay JaoN!!
India, with their side packed with slow bowlers and medium pacers, can afford to go in with Rahul Dravid as their keeper.
yeah u r right he is a very poor keeper with these stats

Wisden overview
Renowned for his combative skills, Moin Khan has spent most of his career slugging it out with Rashid Latif for the keeper’s gloves. His batting ability has generally kept him in front although Latif is a better keeper. An effective rather than stylish batsman Moin relishes a crisis and has held together Pakistan’s lower order time and again. His quick feet and improvisation are even more productive in one-day cricket where he scores at speed. Behind the stumps, he is the chirpiest of keepers and the stump mike has revealed his full repertoire to the world. “Well bowled” and “shabash” are his most familiar soundbites. As captain, Moin struggled to get his way amid Pakistan’s incessant in-fighting and was too defensive, as when England triumphed in the gloom of Karachi. Kamran Abbasi

The point discussed here is not his record but if he is still good enough. Waqar has an awsome record too. Wasim Akram was dropped after having a brilliant career so was Saeed Anwar. So no one here is discussing his record, the question remains if he is good enough. As far as record for catches by a wicketkeeper is concerned, it doesnt really tell you how many catches he dropped.
Both Moin and Rashid should call retire gracefully. Both of them served the country well over the past decade. Pakistan was lucky to have two such great wicket keepers at the same time.
The responsobility of doning the gloves should be now handed to the youngsters...Humayon Farhat or Kamran Akmal.
wicket keeping is a different assignment than any other position. you can’t just put anyone in there. that is the only position where we don’t have any surefire young replacement. that is why moin is playing. by the way, PCB had no intention to replace rashid. he bowed out himself. ohter than inzi, who we all agreed just needed some rest, pak did not bring back any seniors. saqi was given a chance and due to his ineffectiveness he was sent back. so don’t tell me that the board “broke their promise” on rebuilding.

i didnt mean to discuss his record but somebody said that he is a poor wk. he is not a poor wk but he has just lost his form. i think he shud retire n rashid latif too. n not to play around with retirement like rashid latif has been doing. there r many young wk who can replace these two like humayun farhat, kamran akmal..........

what do u mean he has lost hisform...to me he was always a poor wktkeeper..who occasionally had good periods. i agree that both sould retire..and give chance to younger players...dont forget Atiq-Uzaman in that list

well, if he had occasionally good periods that lead him to this wonderful record than i can not imagine how his performance wud be if he really was a good wk
