to keep record straight, he also called BD, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan i.e. all nations who are playing world cup to wish them good luck. Now that might just be a “reason” to call but I am sure they have talked about other things too beside WC.

Also it might be that Obama has asked him to get Pakistan to not opposed the permanent member status.

He is trying to give meaning to defunct SAARC. He called all SAARC nations who are in WC.
