Re: Moderate Muslims hope to break stereotypes , NY
I believe the words ‘Moderate Muslims’ are fornicated. Please…let me explain what i mean by that.
Islam in itself teaches moderacy. Either you are a muslim or you’re not a practicing muslim. There’s no such thing as a ‘moderate muslim’. If you define ‘moderate muslim’ it literally would be written as ‘A muslim that follow islam somewhat, hence being moderate in practice, being a moderate muslim’.
Then there are those who are misguided and act opposite of what Islam teaches and adopt extreme views towards others. I believe the need of the hour is not to point fingers outwards, but rather to look within ourselves. Are we really muslims? Do we practice Islam, or do we boast as being muslims just because our names are Abul, Khan, Mirza, Shah, etc…?
The basis of Islam starts from shahadah and realizing and understanding what it means. If you practice islam, you are automatically a moderate. You love all mankind regardless of their beliefs. You give charity. You don’t backbite. You don’t spread hatred. You don’t have greed for this world, rather the fear for the hereafter, where each of your deeds will be judged on the merit of Islam and its teachings as prescribed by Quran and demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The identity ‘Moderate Muslim’ is yet another element of confusion. Lets just all be good muslims, we’ll be moderate in our actions automatically.
Teggy, Zabardast!
Waise this term “moderate” kinda gets to me too… its the way Bush put it: “Your’e either with us or against us”. So those with him (i.e. the suck up Muslim countries) are moderate and those who question America’s actions are siding with the extremists?!?
