Re: Modem based people
It is a good question, which one is the real you?
In real life perhaps you have the problem of being shy, misunderstood, not meeting people with the same interests to have a decent discussion about something, etc. Plus there is the obliged polite conversation one must indulge in frequently.
While online you can skip any obliged polite conversation and jump into any discussion, any topic you like. With one click of the mouse you are among people with the same interest.
Plus you don't have the fear of being shy or being permanently misunderstood, you can discuss, listen and learn as much as you want.
Which one is the real you? Hard to tell. I guess there is a little of the real you in both your real life personality and your internet personality. They are both you.
But it's true, too much time online is not good. I've been an internet addict too. But I'm controlling myself better now, finally. What works for me is, forcing my attention away from the internet by starting to do stuff I liked doing before I got mighty addictive internet. It really does work.
And you can challenge yourself by playing a game, when you really really want to go online see if you can controll yourself by staying away.
