BBC interview of PAF Pilots
The pilots being interviewed are from No. 19 Sqn commanded by Air Cmdre (R) Sayed Sajad Haider, who was also affectionately known as Nosey Haider.
The Sqn was credited with destroying almost all the heavy equipment of 15th Infantry Div commanded Maj Gen Naranjan Prasad during his advance to Lahore in 1965 war. On top of that the Sqn also destroyed close to 14 IAF aircraft on the ground during the renowned Pathankot raid!
In his autobiography, renowned American pilot Chuck Yeager, the then attaché to Pakistan, wrote, “PAF is second to none… the air war lasted two weeks and the Pakistanis scored a three-to-one kill ratio, knocking out 102 Russian-made Indian jets and losing thirty four airplanes of their own… they were really good aggressive dogfighters and proficient in gunnery and air combat tactics. I was damned impressed. Those guys just lived and breathed flying.”
A true hero and a patriot officer of the Air Force, the legendary M.M Alam passes away in Karachi. May he rest in peace, we will always remember you and your services to this country.

He received a Pakistani military decoration for his actions during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, during which he downed five Indian aircraft in less than a minute, the first four within 30 seconds, establishing a world record.
Sad news. *inna lillah e wa inna elaihi raji’oon *A true patriot and hero, salute to your services.
MM Alam was awarded Sitara-i-Jurat, Pakistan’s third highest military award. He probably deserved a Hilal-i-Jurat atleast if not Nishan-i-Haider for his services to the nation MM Alam - Wikipedia.
Many serving military officers are awarded Sitar-i-Jurat & Tamgha-i-Jurat for no reason apart from seniority and nepotism
It might have been that he became religious and didn't want to be very vocal in celebrating the war. After all, if we can see cecil choudhry on defense day programs, then MM Alam is gem bar none.
